The Local and Regional Governments day at the UN Water Conference represented a milestone in local water governance for our constituency, bringing together national governments, stakeholders on water governance, and local and regional governments from all over the world.

Day brought the collaboration between UCLG and the World Water Council to the next stage with the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations and the Government of Indonesia, chairs of the 10th World Water Forum.

Throughout the MoU, UCLG, will act to “improve the representation and the involvement of local authorities and operators within the different processes of the 10th World Water Forum”, and it also guarantees specific spaces for local and regional governments throughout the event.

“We are delighted to be part of the tripartite agreement between UCLG and the World Water Council to lead the transformation and support needed to make the localization of SDG6 a key priority for the next months”
